Baseball Mogul 2008

As General Manager (GM), your job is to build the best lineup of players to take your team to the World Series. You can make complex player trades and sign players to multi-year contracts as you build your team, but you'll have to compete with the other General Managers, and negotiate with the player's agents. Baseball Mogul also lets you manage the finances for your ball club. Raise revenue by setting the price of tickets and concessions, and selling the TV broadcast rights, while you manage the budget for your farm system, player scouts, medical staff, and player payroll. But be careful, because fans can be fickle if you don't win or you raise ticket prices! If you don't succeed in your first year, you get a new chance with Baseball Mogul's in-depth amateur draft. Pick and choose from the best high school and college talent around the world. If your new players are good enough, have them join your team right away, otherwise send them to your minor league franchise for training and improvement. But Baseball Mogul doesn't stop at the front office. You have complete control over your team on the field. Set the lineup and pitching rotation for your team. On game day, you choose your level of involvement. Retire to theluxury box and make calls to the dugout as needed. Or take control of each player, choosing what pitches to throw and when to bunt or go for an extra base. A powerful game engine simulates each pitch of the game based on customized player ratings and over 100 years of historical data, assuring you the maximum realism possible!
Customer Review: Baseball Mogul 2008
Good game, lots of fun for people who enjoy the somewhat intense sim games like this one.
Customer Review: It Makes Me Sleepy
I've gotten to where I only play this game late at night because I usually get sleepy while playing it. It's not that I don't like the game, it's just not very exciting. My first experience with Baseball Mogul was either 2000 or 2001, and not a whole lot has changed since then. I was really surprised at some of the minor errors I saw: Instead of batting skill against Left and Right, it has Left and Left Player photos do not always match position (Pitcher in Catchers gear) I don't like it that a player pretty much has to get old, get bad, and then get sent to the minors before he will retire. Most veterans retire before they totally fall apart. I have never been able to draft a good hitter. Pitchers are always the best players in the draft. Pitcher ERA's are generally too high. Most teams end the season with an ERA of 4.50 or so. Not every team plays in Colorado. The date for roster expansion is shown on my team page, but I am never able to actually expand. I know baseball players are greedy, but there must be 30 players in my league that are making more then $20 million a year. I would like to be able to assign my players workouts or drills to try and improve their skills. Overall, I enjoy Baseball Mogul, but I will not buy it at full price, and I will not buy it every year; maybe every 6-8 years if it changes this little.
