Also, it is not only the capability to store and play hundreds or even thousands of songs and videos, but because iPod is so small that it can fit in your pocket. In fact, iPod is so small and compact that you wouldnt even feel that it's there.

The fact that iPod is so portable and provides high quality entertainment is enough reason to get out and buy one.

However, there are people who don't know how to work an iPod or at least download movies to iPod from their computer. If you dont know how, then you won't be able to fully enjoy the power of your iPod as you won't be able to use all the features it can provide you, such as the ability to watch your favorite videos and movies while you are on the go.

Just imagine, camping in the middle of nowhere where electricity is non existent. What could be better than watching your favorite videos and movies while waiting for your friends who are hunting to come back? Surely waiting for an hour with no one to talk to is enough to get you bored. With the iPod, getting bored is a thing of the past.

The first step in downloading movies in your iPod is by making sure that your iPod is one of the latest models that are able to play videos. If your iPod is capable of playing videos, the next step is to plug it in your computer via the USB port.

You need to understand that iPod with video capabilities only plays videos or video files that are in MP4 format. You might be aware that most media files in your computer are in AVI, MPG, MPEG, MOV or any other file format. These kinds of files are not actually compatible with your iPod. So, what you do is get a software program that is designed to convert any video format, such as AVI or MPG to MP4 file format.

Today, there are quite a lot of software programs like this that is able to convert video files to MP4 format without affecting the overall quality of the video. And, the great thing about MP4 is that it compresses the file even more. This means that it will allow more movies for you to download in your iPod as the files are smaller.

Now, after converting video files in your computer to MP4 format, you are now ready to download your favorite videos and movie files to your iPod. You can easily do this through an iPod software, such as iTunes. After this, you are now ready to play and enjoy your favorite movies on your iPod.

As you can see, by knowing how to download videos to your iPod, you will be able to fully make use of the features that iPod can provide. By following these few simple tips, you will be able to enjoy high quality entertainment while you are on the go with your video capable iPod.

Pennsylvania Waterfalls: A Guide For Hikers And Photographers

NULL
Customer Review: Awesome guide to PA Waterfalls
Really well written, beautifully photogaphed, and easy to understand guide, I absolutely love this. He tells you everything you need to know in order to get great shots at significant PA waterfalls. I'm a PA transplant currently living in Atlanta and bought this book for my trip next week. There's tons of falls I've never seen or heard of listed in the guide. I typically go to Ricketts Glenn every time I return home but im going to some of these other spots instead on this trip. BTW, his self portriats are really funny.
Customer Review: Like waterfalls? Buy this book!
Pennsylvania Waterfalls is an excellent book on waterfalls in the Keystone state. While he doesn't cover every known falls in PA, Scott Brown hits almost all of the major, publicly accessible waterfalls. His inclusion of GPS coordinates, maps, and written directions makes them very easy to find (in most cases). His skill as a photographer is readily apparent throughout the entire book, and his insight into the composition of and equipment used for each picture should aid budding photographers. The book is well written, well researched, and covers a subject that's of interest to many but rarely published. I did find a number of mistakes in the GPS coordinates and/or written driving directions to some of the falls, however. As a geocacher, I rely on accurate coordinates to find locations and in one instance I couldn't find the falls mentioned in the book. East Branch falls in Sullivan County wasn't in the location described by the book; it was actually 4/10ths of a mile away. The book's map was accurate but the coordinates and driving directions were not, and I missed out seeing that waterfall when I was in the area since I ran out of time hunting for it. Other falls where I've found the coordinates to be incorrect in the book include Second Falls, Logan Falls, and Seven Tubs. Still, in a book of 50+ falls, a few mistakes are bound to slip through. Unless you're using a GPS to navigate as I do, you'd probably never even notice most of these mistakes. Even with the few errors, this book is extremely valuable for waterfalls hunters. I've added it to my own library, and I'd recommend anyone in the Keystone state with an interest in the magnificent beauty of falling water do the same.

Blu-Ray Disc Player: Excellent picture quality on Blu-ray and DVD; DVD upconversion up to 1080p; HDMI output. Right off the bat everyone in the room noticed the image quality from the Blu-Ray Disc Player S300, it's always comforting when the results right out of the box are at least on par with expectations, surpassing them is of course a nice bonus.

The SONY BDP-S300 Blu-Ray Disc Player is an important product, giving Blu-ray some much needed traction in the affordable player category. Combine that with recent news from rental powerhouse Blockbuster that it is expanding Blu-ray titles in its stores (at the expense of HD DVD in most cases), and the BDP-S300 looks like a no-brainer.

HQV Benchmark Results: The BDP-S300 Blu-Ray Disc Player scored very well with the standard definition HQV benchmark disc, it passed most of the tests with flying colors and was able to lock onto the 3:2 film cadence test faster than many other of the DVD and BD/HD players tested recently.

And the remote is a good one- it controls both the player and a television.
Unlike Sony's first-gen BDP-S1 (and Pioneer Elite's BDP-HD1) the BDP-S300 will play back CDs, either from its analog audio outputs or any of its digital audio outputs, including HDMI.

Once loaded and running, the BDP-S300 performed like a gold medalist. The best Blu-ray Discs looked sensational at either 1080p/60 or 1080p/24. And for those using 720p displays, or displays that will not accept 1080p inputs, the player also performed beautifully when set for either a 720p or 1080i output.
The Sony BDP-S300 Multi-Region Blu-Ray is a sure winner
The Sony BDP-S300 Blu-ray player is a good one, with superb playback quality from Blu-ray Discs, and solid upconversion of standard definition DVDs for your legacy collection.

Description: Everyone will marvel at the stunning sound and picture quality of this second-generation Blu-ray Disc player. With remarkable features and versatile performance, the BDP-S300 is an amazing value.

BDP-S300 Strengths: Picture Quality

Strengths: Great picture and excellent sound

Weaknesses: None for me

Summary: I bought this Blu-Ray player last July to watch movies and it has worked flawlessly for me from day 1. I am not a viewer who will use picture in picture (which this does not have) nor do I play any of the games which are on some of the discs. I wanted a Blu-Ray player which gives me full HD video and great sound. The audio sounds great on my surround sound system when I use it. Sometimes I just use the TV speakers and the audio is excellent. If you are interested in a Blu-Ray player with outstanding video and excellent sound this player is for you.

Strengths: Plays Blu-Ray Discs, upconverts standard DVDs. Full 1080p output. Good array of audio outputs.

Strengths: Great picture when playing Blu ray Disk. Connected all audio connections at once except Coax, and all worked automatically...Great sound.

While the Sony BDP-S300 is an entry level Blu-ray player, entry level doesn't necessarily mean cheap. You're getting a capable high definition video player. VD's is lackluster at best and it only decodes Dolby Digital Plus. If you already have a capable upconverting DVD player and don't care about the decoding of Dolby TrueHD and the myriad of high definition DTS formats, this may be the Blu-ray player for you.

Summary: Sony has finally come out their second generation Blu-ray player at half the original price of the original! The BDP-S300 looks like a bargain compared to their previous BDP-S1 model.

Besides the cost benefit, you get more with this player. Unlike the previous model the S300 can play CDs in addition to DVDs. In addition, it seems to load slightly faster than the previous model.

All in all, the BDP-S300 delivers what it promises.

The new BDP-S300 model can output 1920 x 1080p (progressive) high-definition video, currently the highest resolution high-definition signal available through an HDMI connection. The player supports various video formats, including MPEG2, MPEG4-AVC and VC1.

For those who own an HDTV set without HDMI, an analog component output for 1080i (interlaced) is available as well.

The new BD player is compatible with most standard DVDs and has the added feature of 1080p upscaling through HDMI to 1080p capable HDTVs, improving the picture performance of existing DVD libraries.

Watching PIRATES I and PIRATES II I found the picture striking and vivid with no artifacts. My receiver is a delivers 5.1 DD so I am unable to take advantage of the uncompressed PCM codec. However, the Dolby digital audio track was quite impressive. All things considered, this an excellent player at a very good price.

This is an excellent BD Player for under $500! The picture quality is awesome!
Excellent upscaler quality for DVD movies

Below is mentioned that it can't be made region free. Only partially true. A California company already sells this model in a Multiregion (multi-region) version. It can play any Region A and B Blu-Ray Disc movie and display it on any TV that has HDMI input, regardless of video standard (PAL-SECAM-NTSC etc.)

This is a unit that we would buy for ourselves if it weren't for the fact that we couldn't make it region free, because we have a huge DVD collection with movies from regions 1 and 4. If you are going to play only region-free ("region 0") or region 1 discs then this unit is a great pick, especially because its cost/benefit ratio: great price and excellent image quality for DVDs - if the relative slowness of this unit doesn't bother you.

I haven't gone through all the bells and whistles yet, but the picture quality just floored me. Even my wife who really doesn't get the whole 'high def thing' was greatly impressed. We watched Pirates/Caribbean 2 and couldn't believe the quality.

Pros: Excellent picture quality, inexpensive for a Blu-ray player, offers HDMI upscaling to 1080p

Anyone looking to experience the formidable pleasures of watching movies on Blu-ray Disc, and at a reasonable startup cost, is advised to check out Sony's BDP-S300.

This is a magnificent Blu-ray DVD player. It enhances regular DVD viewing and presents Blu-ray discs in full 1080p (if you have a 1080p HDTV).

The video and sound quality is amazing!

Very good product for the money. Well worth getting if you want to get the best picture from your large widescreen HDTV.

"I have owned this Blu-ray player about 2 weeks. I purchased my first Blu-ray movie this past weekend and I was blown away by the full 1080p picture that it produces and the full digital sound is awesome. Be sure to purchase an hdmi cable for this player and you will not be disappointed. It will also upconvert standard DVD's to near HD quality."

Have this unit for a week and love it. Bought it for my husband from appliance bestbuys the price was great the units great and I would definitely tell everyone to buy this one if they want a good Blu ray without emptying their wallets.

Birmingham Frequencies

Customer Review: Second pas-de-deux by two untouchables
"Birmingham frequencies" is the second collaboration between to ambient powerhouses: Geir Jenssen's Biosphere and Bobby Bird's Higher Intelligence Agency. Their first was "Polar sequences", an album that ranks among the best of ambient in general and of both artists in particular. It's a live performance in Oktober 1995 on a mountain in Tromsø, Norway (Jenssen's hometown), in the Artic region. In summertime, the sun shines night and day, in winter time, the darkness creeps in and seems eternaly, until the dawn of next year's summer kisses the horizon again. Samples of the machinery of the local cable lift, snow, moving crusts of ice, and more were used. The result is as mesmerising as Biosphere landmark album "Substrata". The last track "Meltwater" is as hypnotic as it is astonishing. Pieces of ice seem to float in icy water and produce hollow cracking sounds as the crusts scrape along side each others edges. Literaly moving and mesmerising and a true work of art. Biosphere's albums like the afore mentioned "Substrata", but also "Shenzhou" and "Man with a movie camera" keep the listener on the edge of his seat. And a returning thought for most of us is "How is he doing it?" This is real magic time. Tom Opdahl's "Black smoker" which Biosphere's Geir Jenssen produced to a level that almost equals his own work, and the Deathprod collaboration "Nordheim transformed" are two more amazing outputs that come out of the black magician's hat. And now there is the second Biosphere / Higher Intelligence Agence act: "Bermingham frequencies". Birmingham, we learn from the inlay is Bobby Bird's hometown. The opening track, "Cannon Hill", which is filled with joyful sounding children's voices, the presence of birds and sparkling water, is described like this: "It's about 2:30 on a sunny Sunday afternoon in late September. We're in Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham, where people are taking advantage of the unusually warm weather. A little girl is running around tryng to catch one of the many geese for a cuddle as the rest chomp happily on the grass." In this way, all tracks are anounced. What to think of track six, "Daddylonglegs": "Late one night at Paddy & Jane's attic flat in Mosely, we find a Dadylonglegs flying around inside a pink plastic seventies lamp shade, mesmerised by it's light, we record it's performance."

Baseball Mogul 2008

As General Manager (GM), your job is to build the best lineup of players to take your team to the World Series. You can make complex player trades and sign players to multi-year contracts as you build your team, but you'll have to compete with the other General Managers, and negotiate with the player's agents. Baseball Mogul also lets you manage the finances for your ball club. Raise revenue by setting the price of tickets and concessions, and selling the TV broadcast rights, while you manage the budget for your farm system, player scouts, medical staff, and player payroll. But be careful, because fans can be fickle if you don't win or you raise ticket prices! If you don't succeed in your first year, you get a new chance with Baseball Mogul's in-depth amateur draft. Pick and choose from the best high school and college talent around the world. If your new players are good enough, have them join your team right away, otherwise send them to your minor league franchise for training and improvement. But Baseball Mogul doesn't stop at the front office. You have complete control over your team on the field. Set the lineup and pitching rotation for your team. On game day, you choose your level of involvement. Retire to theluxury box and make calls to the dugout as needed. Or take control of each player, choosing what pitches to throw and when to bunt or go for an extra base. A powerful game engine simulates each pitch of the game based on customized player ratings and over 100 years of historical data, assuring you the maximum realism possible!
Customer Review: Baseball Mogul 2008
Good game, lots of fun for people who enjoy the somewhat intense sim games like this one.
Customer Review: It Makes Me Sleepy
I've gotten to where I only play this game late at night because I usually get sleepy while playing it. It's not that I don't like the game, it's just not very exciting. My first experience with Baseball Mogul was either 2000 or 2001, and not a whole lot has changed since then. I was really surprised at some of the minor errors I saw: Instead of batting skill against Left and Right, it has Left and Left Player photos do not always match position (Pitcher in Catchers gear) I don't like it that a player pretty much has to get old, get bad, and then get sent to the minors before he will retire. Most veterans retire before they totally fall apart. I have never been able to draft a good hitter. Pitchers are always the best players in the draft. Pitcher ERA's are generally too high. Most teams end the season with an ERA of 4.50 or so. Not every team plays in Colorado. The date for roster expansion is shown on my team page, but I am never able to actually expand. I know baseball players are greedy, but there must be 30 players in my league that are making more then $20 million a year. I would like to be able to assign my players workouts or drills to try and improve their skills. Overall, I enjoy Baseball Mogul, but I will not buy it at full price, and I will not buy it every year; maybe every 6-8 years if it changes this little.

Summary:
The Creative Zen Nano Plus MP3 player (1 gigabyte 43.20) comes in 10 colours and is available in 512MB of flash memory to store up to 250 tracks and 1GB of flash memory to store up to 500 tracks.

This is a feature rich ultra-portable (size of a pen drive) MP3/WMA mobile audio solution in an attractive package and the smallest in Creatives range and only 32 grams. This is an excellent product and 10/10!

Review:
The sound quality for MP3 is excellent and even better for WMA encoded tracks, the frequency response is 20Hz to 20,000Hz, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 90dB.

Although plastic, the build quality is of a high standard with a durable scratch resistant casing. The device is controlled by 3 responsive and sensibly sized buttons: power on/off (which also acts as the play/pause); volume up; and volume down. The remaining functions are delivered via a scroll wheel which also has a rocker function and acts as the skip and the fast forward/back controls. All controls can be operated one handed by use of the thumb only.

The black on green backlit 3cm x 1 cm LCD (18 characters) interface is a very intuitive and user-friendly display using 2 lines of text where each of the main12 functions is identified by an icon. The display orientation can be configured to allow reading whichever way up it is held (in any one of 16 languages!).

There are 6 graphic equaliser settings - 5 preset ( Rock, Jazz; Classical, Pop, and Normal) and Custom. The Custom setting allows manual configuration of a 5-band filter circuit for tonal characteristics of the mid-frequencies.

Tracks can be placed in memory singularly or in folders as whole albums. There are 12 play modes - play all tracks / single track / single folder / all folders; either in order or randomly; and even play once, repeat once, repeat continually..

The device is powered by one AAA battery which routinely provides approximately 18-hours of playback time, microphone 15 hours and 9 hours of direct encoding. The supplied Energizer battery, however, lasted just over 24 hours. I prefer to use a pair of rechargeable batteries in tandem.

The device is connected to the computer using a USB cable (series "A" plug to Mini-B receptacle on the device) and is recognised as a standard mass storage drive, powered by the computer when connected. There's a rubber cover over the USB port on the device.

The computer drivers provide an extremely user friendly Drag-and-Drop style interface with USB 2.0 support, including DRM copy-protected music, allowing you to easily transfer music, even via a lowly USB 1.1 Windows 98 PC.

The driver software is unnecessary for simple storage operations as it can be used a like any other flash device; however unlike some devices this does not have a type A connection so you need to have the interface cable with you.

For 'CD quality' playback * a minimum bit rate of 128Kbps is required which equates to 1 minute of music per megabyte, therefore the 1 gigabyte gives 8 hours worth of CD quality music which is about 200 songs. Encoding at 64Kbps allows 500 track advertised capacity.

* In answer any criticism from those who should know better I know this is not a true comparison, by 'CD quality' in the context of an MP3 player, I mean better than cassette, but not studio, quality, of course.

Good stuff:

1) Built-in condenser microphone recordings in 8 kHz, 4-bit in Mono wave format.

2) A built-in FM tuner with 32 presets and Autoscan function;

3) Internal FM recording and synchronised recording, enabling you connect it to a DAB radio and timed recordings;

4) Line-In real-time MP3 encoding at 96, 128 or 160Kbps for direct connection and recording from any audio source with Line-in or earphones socket;

5) Simple drag-and-drop music and data files. No computers needed which also allows use of audio sources other than CD;

6) 18 hrs or more of battery life;

7) Works like an industry standard flash drive, so can store data files such as photos and presentations;

Bad stuff:
This is an excellent product and the only negative comments I have are quite superficial and it should be noted that we computer science geeks seem to have a genetic propensity for pointless trivialities!

1) From power up takes up to 15 seconds to load and become operational, depending on the capacity;

2) The bundled headphones are good enough, but not sufficiently so to do justice to the sound quality;

3) As a flash based player, it might have been nice to have a direct USB plug - now that retractable ones are appearing there would seem to be no reason not to;

4) The rocker switch/scroll wheel is a little fiddly, over-sensitive and can lock;

5) When browsing by folders the first song in the folder is played, rather than offering a chance to browse without playing;

6) I have noticed the odd random 0.3 second skipduring playback - this seems to occur about every 6 hours of use;

7) I would have liked this to have come with a rechargeable battery that could be charged using the USB cable;

8) The device can not be connected to a computer to provide power while recording from the microphone or direct encoding;

9a) Folders and tracks being organised by descending alphabetic order according to file names only, and the device displays the file name only for a second then switches to the encoded track title which could be completely different. This can seem quote disorienting with large volumes of files organised with real file names;

9b) While a computer is not required, except for the ability to delete files, there is no interface to organise or name directly captured files which are written respectively to an encoded tracks folder and named EN001 incrementally up to EN999, and to a recorded files folder named VOIC001 to VC999;

10) Voice recordings are encoded as WAV files, I would have liked the option to use MP3 encoding;

11) There is a 1.8 second delay when starting and ending a direct recording;

12) The device directly encodes at a maximum of 160bkps, I dont consider this a real issue but users are becoming accustomed to batter quality encoding and full WAV PCM output. :-)

13) Direct encoding requires a non-standard adaptor (3.5mm to 2.5mm Mono plug to plug lead).

Ear Force X-52 5.1 Headphones

Ear Force X-52 headphones give PC gamers a competitive edge by reproducing 5.1 surround sound via eight high-quality speakers. Unlike stereo headphones, the X-52's can reproduce 3D positional sound cues that are otherwise obtainable only with surround sound speaker systems, which are inconvenient to set up and often disturb others online or nearby.
Customer Review: I agree great sound, and comfort! Till they break.
I bought these headphones Sept 07. Used them often but carefully. Plastic ear piece broke of March 08. Nuff said.
Customer Review: Great sound and so comfortable
I was in the market for 5.1 headphones, and found these Turtle Beach X52s. First, they are big. I was using behind the head earphones, and compared to that, the X52s are bulky. But that doesn't mean they are not comfortable, because they are...you hardly notice them. Once I got the settings correct, the sound from rFactor came alive! The surround sound is def. a great addition to these headsets. The mic is also great, sensitive to pick up your voice, but not other noises. Music is good in these headphones too, but not the greatest. I didn't buy them for music though, as I use them for gaming. If you are looking for 5.1 headphones and don't want to break the bank, give the X52 a try. You will be very happy with them.

With a total weight of 5.1 ounces and slim measurements of 3.87 x 2.91 x 0.87 inches (WxHxD), the nvi 350 is just right for the pocket or purse. A bright, 64,000-color display dominates the front of the device and a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels means that there's plenty of room for displaying map data and other elements of the device's interface. An SD memory card slot is provided for expansion software, such as a points of interest database, media files and electronic guides (see below). The flip-up antenna includes an MCX-type connector for connecting the unit to an external GPS antenna. Meanwhile, a powerful built-in speaker resides on the back of device. A built-in lithium ion battery will give you for to eight hours of battery life, depending on use. In addition to an AC charger, the unit also ships with a 12-volt power adapter for vehicle charging, as well as a windshield suction cup mount.

Fortunately, Garmin has made it easy to interface with the nvi 350's 700 megabytes of onboard memory, thanks to "plug-and-play" USB mass storage support. Just plug the device into your computer's USB port and you've got instantaneous access to all the audio books, music, photos, supplemental maps and other data on the nvi 350's internal and SD card memory.

The nvi 350 is first and foremost a personal GPS device. Wherever you go -- in your car or on foot-- the device offers extremely accurate position data, thanks to a high-sensitivity integrated GPS receiver by SiRF and WAAS-enabled, 12-satellite reception. Combined with detailed maps of the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico the nvi 350 provides automatic routing, turn-by-turn voice directions, and touchscreen control-- making it easy to find your way anywhere. Plus, the unique "text-to-speech" feature calls out turns by street name, and you can choose from either 2D or 3D mapping perspectives when you're viewing your route on the display. Additionally, the nvi 350 is compatible with Garmin's GTM 10 FM TMC traffic receiver*, which allows users to avoid traffic tie-ups by simply pushing a button that will calculate a new route.

As mentioned, the nvi 350 comes packed with mapping data for North America, but you can can also load up your custom points of interest. Set up proximity alerts for school zones, safety cameras, and more using Garmin's free POI (points of interest) loader program (available from garmin.com).

Navigation is just part of the journey, and the nvi 350 is one of the first devices to recognize that. The built-in "Travel Kit" offers an MP3 player, an audio book player from Audible.com, a jpeg-format picture viewer, a world travel clock with time zones, a currency converter, a measurement converter, and a calculator.

In addition to the included travel tools, additional software add-ons are available, such as the Garmin Language Guide, with data provided by Oxford University Press. This software suite contains a multilingual word bank, phrase bank, and five bilingual dictionaries. The multilingual word bank and phrase bank supports nine languages and dialects, including American English, British English, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, European Spanish, and Latin American Spanish. Now you can look up and translate more than 17,000 words or 20,000 phrases per language -- right in the palm of your hand. Through the unit's text-to-speech interface, users can get a spoken pronunciation of each entry in the word bank, along with gender and part of speech information.

Another useful add-on software package, the Garmin Travel Guide, is loaded with information provided by Marco Polo. These guides put in-depth travel information such as reviews and recommendations for restaurants, tourist attractions, and more at your fingertips. The software allows you to navigate to an address or search points of interest-- places like hotels, restaurants, shopping, and tourist attractions. The nvi 350 automatically calculates the fastest route and provides voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions along the way. The unit also audibly announces the name of upcoming streets-- letting you keep your eyes on the road while navigating through busy traffic and tricky roadways. And if you stray off course, the nvi 350 automatically calculates the quickest way to get back on track.

Nvi 350, Preloaded City Navigator NT for North America and Puerto Rico, Vehicle suction cup mount, AC charger, Vehicle power cable, Dashboard disc, USB cable, Carrying case, Quick reference guide.

For a slightly higher pricepoint, Garmin's nvi 600 and 700 series devices have richer feature sets including: MP3 players, JPEG photo viewers, the ability to receive traffic and weather information, bluetooth for hands-free calling, FM transmitters that deliver audio through your cars own stereo system, and multi-destination routing that will tell you the best way to make a trip that involves several destinations.

What's in the Box
Headphones, carrying case
Customer Review: Sennheaiser PX100W
The Sound quality is very good. The Headphones sit on your ear. These are Over-the-Head Headphones, not Behind-the-Neck Headphones. The reason for Four (4) Stars instead of Five (5) Stars is that wires come out of both sides rather than just one side.
Customer Review: So good you'll have to hide it from your relatives
My title tells it all. I've purchased three of these and each one gets commandeered by my husband. He's a die-hard sennheiser fan now. He listens to All types of music and nothing sounds bad with these earphones from heavy metal to jazz to alternative. I'm hiding the next ones in my car so I get to use them. Try sennheiser before you buy a better known earphone that does the same or worse at a much higher price.

Surround sound is achieved when multiple speakers are hooked in the receiving device, whether it be a television or a stereo, and they are placed to the side and behind you. This lets you hear sound coming from all around you, thus the name surround sound.

If you have ever heard television in surround sound you will agree it is quite a change from plain stereo sound. It seems the sound is behind you at times, while other times it seems to be coming from the sides. It is such a better quality sound than stereo, that once you hear it, you will have to have it. Surround sound will let you hear sounds in your television shows that you didnt know existed.

Surround sound can use many different variations of speakers. They can use 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 channels. Some systems can use 10 channels for height and extra channels in the rear and on the sides. Some theories have been documented that there is an extremely big difference between 5 channels and 10. However most surround sound systems use 5.

Many homes being built today are integrating surround sound into their homes. To have an entertainment system that actually makes you feel as if you were in the middle of the movie is the main objective. You will be so enthralled with the movie; you will think you are the main character. Not only do the homes install this system for television but also for music. Speakers in bedrooms are a hot item.

Movies and music are not the only audience for surround sound. Sports fans can watch their favorite teams play. This would make a really great gift for the football fanatic in your family. Their football games could be enjoyed with the sounds of the game coming through so true that they would enjoy the thrill of every play and feel as if they were at the game instead of sitting in their living room.

Your system can easily be converted to surround sound without very much trouble. Some people just go buy a surround sound system and plug it into their television at home. They place the speakers around the room and presto, a home surround sound system.

If you would prefer to put together your own system, you can go buy all the materials you will need. The system called 5.1 LFE is used by movie studios, digital television, and music. It consists of putting 3 speakers in the front of the room, 2 in the back, and the .1 is a subwoofer that is used for picking up sound effects such as an earthquake or a plane crash.

Regardless of what method you choose for surround sound you will be amazed at the difference in sound and wish that you had done it sooner. It makes such a big difference in the sounds you hear and the feel of being in the middle of the action that you will soon be recommending it to all of your friends and acquaintances.

Potential buyers use a digital camera review because they want to be able to make an informed choice about their purchase. They are created by a team of people made up of experts and general users, and tested over a period of time to give an informed opinion. Therefore, any review of it should be thorough and clear, with the buyer`s best interests in mind.

For simplicity, the digital camera review is usually in a summarized table format, with stars or numbered ratings beside each make. The reason for this is that this format makes it very clear for the reader to understand. However, the criteria assessed are not always made clear and may leave the reader wondering what exactly the ratings for the product was based on and whether it is reliable.

A good digital camera review should have a wide reaching outlook and consider as many aspects as possible. It should have the requirements of a variety of buyer`s covered, considering the possible uses and realistic price ranges that may be required.

The good digital camera review should also offer insightful opinions in terms of features, portability, performance and cost. It should be easy to follow but also informative, with a balanced argument and also a more in depth description available for any interested buyer. It should compare one product to another, to provide the consumer with the best possible choice. The good digital camera review should also be honest; to make sure the consumer truly gets what suits their needs and expectations.

Firstly, the cost should be considered and clearly stated. This is a necessity as all potential buyers have a budget in mind when purchasing a digital camera. The review should explain whether the product is good value for the price bracket that it covers, and if so, in what way. There should be reviews of several types or make of digital camera for each price range so that the consumer can understand what is fully available. The review should also try and alert any buyers of possible available discounts and deals that are realistically obtainable.

Performance is central to any review. The digital camera is bought for a reason, and potential buyers want to know whether what they are purchasing will meet their specific requirements.

Performance includes the lens and sensor quality, the range of zoom, additional special features, compactness, weight, picture quality and reliability. These are all factors which will affect the quality of the image taken and also the type of photography that the digital camera is designed for.

Clear reasons behind why each feature is considered to be of high or low quality needs to be backed up with clear and justifiable arguments. There should be comparisons made between digital cameras, and a range of makes covered.

An excellent review will also go one step further and investigate the product a little further to give the reader the best possible service. This may include testing out any available accessories, or assessing the level of support from the manufacturers or the time taken to deal with repairs. These added extras can make the choice much more informed, and help the potential buyer from making possible mistakes.

Most importantly, the best digital camera review should be user friendly, with technical information either explained in layman terms or kept to a minimum unless it is a review specifically aimed at professional photographers. It should appeal to its market and provide the information required.

Radar detectors warn the driver when he reaches a dangerous speed level. Most of the radar detectors are generally expensive. Discounted radar detectors are available at various outlets and auctions. Life today is really costly and nowadays it is simply not possible for people to go and buy things at really high rates. Every one looks for discounted prices. The reason behind this fact is that the discounted prices on things make it possible for people to buy those. The quality of the goods remains the same but the price is much lower than that. As a result it is very much possible for people to buy these discounted stuffs. Same is the situation with the radars. Speed radars are important. Over speeding is a growing issue. With the advanced motor cars it is becoming a serious problem. Few people over speed because due to certain circumstances they have to do that. Others over speed only for the joy of it. Thus the speed detector radars are needed. These radars are good to detect the speed of the vehicle.

A simple search on various sites will tell you that discount radar detectors are easily available. Most of the wholesalers sell these devices, but here the cost and other taxes are not included.

Look out for handbills, flyers or advertisements in the Sunday newspapers. Electronic stores offer discount during certain time of the year, when the old model needs to be replaced by the new one. Watch out for such sales and you will definitely find the needful. Another option would be to go in for a second-hand device. All electronic devices need to be constantly updated and evolved. So pick up a detector that serves your purpose even if it is not the latest. Keep checking the local newspapers for such as advertisement.

Online auction sites eBay is a great place to check discount radar detector Take into account the delivery charges of this device since this could make the discount of no avail. If you are fortunate you could even come across radar detectors that are being sold at discounted rates though they are brand new. First decide what kind of radar detector you prefer. Decide the sensitivity range that you require. Decide what technology is a must. Buying an off-brand detector also brings down cost. As long as the discount detector serves the purpose and saves you from the inevitable speeding tickets, whether the device is branded, second-hand or discounted does not matter.

Buy a model which is not the greatest and latest but it should not be outdated.Discounted radar detectors should contain all the main features and characteristics that satisfy the buyers' needs as well as requirements.

Surrounded

The hype of 5.1 and huger surround seems more active than ever... except in sales.

Back in the early days of Dolby Digital and DTS I stood up for releasing music in multi-channel formats. I still do.

The thing is just that I do not uphold the "Dolby Digital" or "DTS" 5.1, or 6.1 or whatever approach, it makes little sense to me, speaking in commercial terms, because of the comfort sacrifices it forces you to, when listening to it. Remember you may leave the music playing in the room and listen from the kitchen.

So, I think most people just won't go trough the trouble of buying a music "DVD" just by imagining sitting in the couch while it plays, exploring all the 5.1 surround activity. I speak for myself, having countless high-definition audio surround titles, I *only* listen to these in the former mentioned scenario, thus, rarely.

What do I think should be the way then?

Stereo still rules

No matter how much DVD players get lower in price, or compression algorithms get multichannel, the thing is that... The main thing is still the music, the thing you whistle too, tip the toes at with or get the goosebumps from.

Truth of the matter is that now matter how good people's Home-Cinema systems get, as far as music use is concerned, they will probably just stuff in a quite common normal audio CD in there, or SDCards or whatever.

The immersive surround makes more sense watching a movie or playing a game, not quite so listening to music which, some even just "display" for the neighbors, leaving the room due to very high volume, or dance away from the speakers, and I do mean away - not good for feeling immersive effects the producer wanted his 5.1 music to give you, which means, for that, you should stand in the geometrical center of all 5 or 6, or even 7 (for now) speakers...

... Ah, and have I mentioned that in many cases the speakers are incorrectly placed?

Encoding

So, to me, the solution, as far as investing in music audio production, still lies with the stereo approach as root, and... to add some value, if need be, the surround. Although there are a lot of ways you can do this, I use two (please mind that for HighDefinition content I use MLP and WMA lossless):

- Windows Media Audio Multichannel encoder (or similars) - Dolby Prologic or similars

Sticking to the examples, Windows Media Audio allows you to encode several channels of audio but downmixes to stereo transparently if you are listening in stereo. Dolby Prologic, if version II, encodes a 5(.1) matrix into a stereo file, if IIx, goes up to 7.1, and although the listener may enjoy it in stereo (with the hyped iPod, for example, and headphones) he can also, if in the mood, stuff the source into the Hi-Fi, turning on the suitable ProLogic decoder and getting the full 5(.1) channels from the stereo file or more.

There's some loss of quality doing phase encoding in a stereo file to get the extra surround channels, but, for the reasons stated above, some of which related to the kitchen/room scenario, that difference won't make that much of a difference.

Please notice the ".1" in all the stated cases, which is the sub-bass channel, is handled automatically, hence, removing bass from all channels, it's not a dedicated channel in ProLogic, but may be with Windows Media Audio.

Speaking of 5 channels surround, the problem with Windows Media Surround Encoder (and similars) is that, since they encode the whole channels, the file size is around, lets say, for sake of argument, bigger than a simple stereo would be (prologic is encoded in stereo) - not good for bandwidth (specially in high-quality, high bitrate versions).

On the other hand, if you had a stereo encoded Prologic II file, the size would be the simple stereo normal size, hence, around a few times less if you count off compression tricks, with all the channels there. Good for bandwidth, best for high bit rate encoding with no worries for size, and you can listen in an iPod or at home with your pride and joy home-cinema system in full 5.1, having downloaded a simple, small, ingenious simple stereo file.

Thus means, ProLogic is also good to burn straight on to a normal stereo CD...

My vote

So, you may have guessed it by now, my vote goes for plain stereo with encoded ProLogic information and that is probably my future orientation, if I don't stick with plain stereo - which would be option zero, the original vote, but I like to add value, and multi-channel does just that.

On the other hand, I uphold and defend HD multichannel (24bit/96khz) should be 5.1 in heart, engineered to be so with the highest of qualities, but only to be sold along side the standard material, for true appreciation - I'm not a supporter of compressed high-definition multichannel downloads, I want it all, linear, or, at most, 75% of it (WMA Q75 mode, similar to MiniDisc quality). :-)

The future

I believe the future may very well render effortless many hours of sweat some insist on going through to have a good 5.1 mix (many sound really lousy). The thing is that DSP (digital signal processing) will have such a huge amount of processing power that it will take any audio signal and do whatever it wants with it.

So, from a crappy mono feed, you may end up with a glorious 12.2 surround artificial but realistic environment, and move trough it in real time, as with most games nowadays. So my motto is to focus on music, balance, production, emotion, and stereo, with optional spreading to a well mixed 5.1 (actually it's the reverse, but who cares) for marketing and personal pleasure reasons for, under all this reasoning, monophonic would be enough.

Customer Review: Thin shirts
material is thin, I probably wouldn't have bought this item in person.
Customer Review: Thin material and no hem.
While this t-shirt looks good in the picture, it's actually pretty poor quality once you get it in hand. The material is very thin and the bottom of the shirt is not hemmed, which means it has a tendancy to roll up. The price is right, however, but you definitely get what you pay for.

To every gamer, owning the ultimate gaming computer is just like a dream come true. Not only can you play all type of games, you can also enjoy the realism of the graphics and sound, as if you are part of the game.

So what does it take to build the ultimate gaming computer? First, you must have enough cash to spare. Next, you have to know which parts to choose.

CPU

The first thing to consider is definitely the CPU. The latest addition and the best of Intel CPU is the Intel Core 2 Extreme processor. According to Intel, the latest processor has a 4 MB of shared L2 cache (usually only 512K 2MB) and up to 1066MHz FSB, a notch higher than its previous version. It also has better power efficiency and cache management system, optimized for multi-thread functions.

If you are a hard core AMD fan, do not panic, AMD has always been a strong competitor to Intel. Its Athlon 64 FX-62 CPU is the first Windows-compatible 64-bit PC processor and has the capacity to handle the most demanding application with outstanding performance. With over 100 industry accolades under its belt, what else do I have to say?

Memory

The CPU and the memory must always be hand in hand. You cant expect a great performance from the CPU without the support of the memory RAM. Being the stabilizer of the whole system, the bigger the memory size, the better, faster and more stable computer you can get.

Though the fastest RAM speed is DDR2 1066MHz, there are not many motherboards that can support this. The recommended speed to go for is DDR2 800MHz dual channel 2GB. Most motherboards come with 4 DIMM slots; therefore you can install two sets of the dual channel RAM to bring the total memory to 4GB. Few applications can fully utilized the 4GB memory size yet, but it never hurt to have more memory space. It also means that you can save your memory upgrade cost for the next few years.

Graphics Card

Graphics technology has gone a long way since the monochrome era. The current technology is the SLI (Scalable Link Interface) or CrossFire technology, developed by nVidia and ATI respectively. Both technologies utilize dual graphics cards and the fast PCI-Express 16x slot to deliver faster and better images. To build a ultimate gaming computer, the graphics card should at least be a PCI-Express 512MB GDDR3 SLI/CrossFire ready graphics card.

Hard Drive

When building the ultimate gaming computer, it is not the size of the hard drive that counts, but its performance that really make the difference. A 200GB hard drive is usually more than enough for the storage of your games and applications. The main differences lie in the buffer and the drive interface. The buffer determines how much data can be stored for pre-fetch while the drive interface determines how fast the data can be transferred. The most suitable choice for an ultimate gaming computer is the SATA-2 16MB buffer 200GB hard drive.

Monitor

Is there a need to say about this? The obvious choice is at least a 21 LCD monitor with 2ms response time and DVI video input. The rest is extra.

Sound Card

Yes, you really need a sound card, even though that motherboard of yours boosts a 7.1-channel onboard sound card. If you are going after the best sound possible, there are no alternatives other than the Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum PCI Sound Card. It is currently one of the best sound cards that can create 3D sound in a two-speaker or headphone setup. This is definitely the one to go for.

Speaker

How can you have a great sound card without a great speaker? In order to match the performance of the great sound card you bought, a 5.1-channel speaker system or higher is necessary. A 5.1 channel means the right and left front satellites, right and left surround satellites, a center speaker and a sub-woofer. A 6.1-channel adds a rear speaker while a 7.1-channel adds left and right rear speaker. In addition, a hardware decoding system for Dolby Digital and DTS is also essential to produce the best sound effect. A good recommendation is Logitech Z-5500 6.1 channel speaker system

Keyboard/mouse

The keyboard and mouse are the only devices that you use to input command to the system. For best gaming effect, a programmable hot-key keyboard and a sensitive, accurate mouse are required. The best in the market now is the Logitech G15 gaming keyboard that allows you to program up to 18 hot-keys and Logitech G7 laser gaming mouse that allows the user to adjust the resolution to 2000dpi.

Power Supply

With so many high-power consuming parts inside the case, you will need a high rating power supply to support it. PCI-Express SLI graphics card requires a different power connector. This has to be taken in account as well. Recommended: 600W SLI ready PSU with 120mm fan.

Motherboard

I have list most of the parts, what about the motherboard? It is easy, once you have gathered all the parts above, the motherboard that can supports all of these parts will be the one you go for. To summarize, your motherboard need to

  • Be a socket 775 board for Intel processor or socket 939 / AM2 board for AMD processor
  • Has at least 4 slots of DIMM for memory RAM. DDR2 800MHz for Intel chip and DDR 400MHz for AMD
  • Support SLI or CrossFire, has at least two PCI Express 16x slot
  • SATA 2 interface for hard drive

This has more or less covered the requirement to build an ultimate gaming computer. A piece of advice is that building the ultimate gaming computer can easily cost you several thousand dollars. Within a few months, all of those top of the line components will be replaced with a new range of products with even greater performance. If you are restricted by budget, do not attempt to build the ultimate gaming computer. Invest in only a few products such as the RAM and graphics card will be sufficient for you to enjoy your game. Who says gaming has to be an expensive hobby?
